UCC Shooting Memorial Service

On Sunday, October 4th besides the sermon that I have prepared, I am going to set aside part of the worship service so there will be a time for people to express their feelings over the tragedy today at UCC and a chance to light candles for healing.  I know this is a difficult time for all of our Roseburg community, and we as a church need to come together in a special way to mourn and discuss and of course hug one another.  The minister from the Eugene church, Rev. Syndey Morris will be joining us for the service and offering her support and that of the Eugene UU church.  Please know that as a faith community we will be together in a special way on Sunday lending our hearts and minds and our support to one another and to anyone in the community we may know who has been affected.  It is good that we will be together. Events like this can shatter the very hinges of trust in a community, but we must not despair, we must wake up, be alert, call on each other for support and love. Now maybe more than ever.

Rev. Annie Holmes, emerita
