Children’s Exploration

Mission of Children and Youth Religious Exploration:

“Provide the youth insight and experience with an array of the world’s religions
so that they can grow their own spirituality and
develop a lifelong commitment to the principles of Unitarian Universalism.”

Our children’s program provides information about the beliefs and practices of all the world’s major religions: Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Traditional, Hindu and Islamic.

We provide encouragement towards an understanding of other cultures and a feeling of being a world citizen. We learn about the Bible, the Torah, the Koran; and that the inspiration of the divine is to be found in many books.

We teach about ethical living, responsibility, non–violent conflict resolution, respect, democratic values, ecological friendliness, honesty and integrity, healthfulness, charity and community service.

At the core of our UU community are our 7 Principles.  The Principles encompass all the ingredients of a good and faith-filled life based on equality, peace, acceptance, truth, care, and love.  This program explores all the context of beloved community.  The children’s curriculum is taken from Tapestry of Faith/ Lifespan Curriculum by Lynn Kerr and Christy Olson.

Classes are held downstairs during the hour of regular Sunday service. For more information, contact TBA, Director of Religious Education at ____.

Volunteers!!!!

Our Volunteers are very important to our children’s program. We value the wisdom, connection, and talent of our church community.  This involvement gives meaning to the pragmatic lessons I teach which are based on a heart–centered platform. There are many areas in which you might consider contributing to. Much of what happens to make our program successful is “behind the scenes, preparation and clean-up.” I cherish those who pitch right in and bring in art supplies or healthy snacks.  We strive to involve you; our church community to contribute to a rich program that lets your talents shine.  We invite you to share!  Don’t hold out on us! Let’s explore the possibilities.
