Social Concerns Sunday

The first Sunday of each month is our Social Concerns Sunday.  We invite a non-profit organization to present to our congregation about their mission and current projects, and light a Social Concerns candle in honor of their work.  The offertory collection that Sunday is then donated to that non-profit organization to support their on-going work in the community.

A few organizations we’ve hosted recently include:

  • Battered Persons Advocacy
  • Global Warming Coalition
  • Douglas County Library
  • The Confidence Clinic
  • Adapt
  • The FISH Pantry special Christmas collection
  • Zimbabwe Artists’ Project

A high percentage of our members are active in a variety of non-profit and activist groups.  We appreciate the good work done by volunteers to make our local and global communities a better place.
